Storage of goods without excise stamps for sale revealed

During the operational tax control measure conducted by the Ministry of Taxes’ Main Department for Primary Investigation of Tax Crimes, 48 bottles of alcohol and 10,813 packs of tobacco products not marked with excise stamps were found and seized in the shop owned by the individual Nizamaddinov Nizami Mobubbat, located at 241E Sharifzade Street, Yasamal district, Baku. A criminal case has been filed on the fact, and measure of restraint has been chosen about N.Nizamaddinov by the Yasamal District Court.

The Ministry of Taxes says the tax authorities will proceed with measures in preventing such cases and bringing perpetrators to justice. Citizens are asked to immediately contact the relevant government agencies in case of the sale of such counterfeit goods.

Consumers of excisable goods should know that, in economic sense, one of the main purposes of applying excises on such products is to prevent the illegal and poor quality production of harmful products and to identify the origin of production.

By purchasing products without excise stamps or with a fake excise stamp, the consumers are encountered with the risk of exposure to products that are not known for their quality, production and storage conditions, and that are harmful to health, also promotes the expansion of the smuggling of non-excised goods and the sale of counterfeit products in the consumer market and the loss of state budget revenues.
